Steyn pulls off unique celebration after taking first wicket in LPL

South Africa veteran fast bowler Dale Steyn is currently involved in the Lankan Premier League. When Chris Gayle backed out of the tournament citing an injury and Sohail Tanvir contracting the virus infection, Kandy Tuskers purchased the services of Steyn for the tournament.

Playing his first match in the LPL, the experienced pacer made an instant impact with the ball as he bagged a wicket on the very second ball of the first over. Netizens took to their respective social media handle to shower praises on the fast bowler for showcasing his mettle.

Earlier in the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League, Steyn hardly featured for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The fast bowler took just 1 wicket in 3 games. Since he played no cricket before the IPL, his bowling variations were far from pleasing.

Nonetheless, he brought the best out of himself in the ongoing edition of the LPL. During the game between Jaffna Stallions and Kandy Tuskers, the 37-year-old pacer bagged 2 wickets, giving away 33 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

Earlier in the game, he dismissed Avishka Fernando for a duck before getting rid of Wanindu Hasaranga for just 2 runs. After he took his first wicket in the tournament, he pulled off a unique celebration. The video of which is doing the rounds on social media.

Kandy Tuskers remain alive in the tournament with a win over Jaffna Stallions. The bowlers put up a solid performance by restricting Jaffna Stallions to 150. Nuwan Pradeep brought the best out of himself during the game as he picked up 3 wickets. The likes of Dale Steyn, Viswa Fernando and Gunaratne picked up 2 wickets each. Kandy Tuskers chased down the target with 5 balls to spare. They beat Stallions by 6 wickets.

Asele Gunaratne scored a magnificent 52* off 37 (5 fours, 1 six) and Irfan Pathan scored an unbeaten 25 off 19 (4 fours). The duo added vital partnership to help their side over the finishing line. Jaffna bowlers did their maximum best to defend the total but they lacked the killer instinct to stop the Kandy Tuskers.

It is their 3rd match without a victory but they still remain at the top of the points table. Tuskers have eventually broken their 3-match losing streak.
