Gemcon Khulna manager Nafees Iqbal confirmed Shafiul’s news to BDCricTime, saying the 31-year-old will have to stay out of the field for at least three weeks..

“Shafiul is injured. The injured part is yet to be scanned. He won’t be available to play for three weeks. So we are considering that his tournament has ended,” he said.

Khaled, who did not play any competitive cricket match for 11 months until Dhaka Premier League this March, will fill in Shafiul’s place if he tests negative for coronavirus.

“We have picked Khaled in place of Shafiul. He is done with COVID test. If everything is alright, he will join the team,” Nafees added.

Khaled was unsold in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup draft. Earlier, he played two matches for Tamim XI in the BCB President’s Cup in October where he picked only one wicket from two matches.

Khulna are placed third with two wins and two defeats. They will take on Fortune Barishal in the next game on Friday.
