Ahead of the Test series, India are getting a set back as their right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma and right-arm fast bowler Ishant Sharma are unlikely to join the touring squad in Australia. The duo are left out from the touring team due to the injuries and said they will be joining the team and clearing fitness tests in NCA.

According to that both the players are around NCA at the moment. It looks like there is no clear view for team management regarding the status of both players whi are undergoing rehabilitation at NCA. This has led to a complex situation that both players might not be touring to Australia.

According to the latest reports, the team management is looking to name Shreyas Iyer as replacement for Rohit Sharma. In the case of Ishant Sharma a pacer from the limited overs squad is likely to name as the replacement. Unavailability of both players in the absence of Virat Kohli might be a big blow for the Indian cricket team.

Earlier also head coach Ravi Shastri said that they are not getting a clarity on the current status of both players. He stated a fact that both players should be able to fly within a maximum of five days.

“He (Rohit) was never going to play the white-ball series, they were just looking to see how long he needed the rest because you can’t afford to be resting for too long. If you need to play in the Test series or any red-ball cricket, you’ve got to be on the flight in the next three or four days. If you aren’t, then it’s going to be tough.”

“It’s a similar case (Ishant’s injury) to Rohit. You don’t really know how quickly he’ll be available to fly out. As I said, if anyone has to play in the Test series, he has to be on the flight in the next four or five days. Otherwise, it’s very difficult,” Ravi Shastri said.
