A left-handed batsman, Renshaw burst onto the domestic scene in December 2015 when struck an epic 170 against a strong NSW attack to become the youngest first-class century maker for Queensland. Born in Yorkshire, he was a family friend of England batsman Joe Root as a youngster. Renshaw was a part of the Australian Under-19 squad that toured Sri Lanka in October 2014, giving a glimpse of his ability with an innings of 73 on his one-day debut in Colombo. 2014 also provided him with valuable experience in English conditions having been a part of MCC Young Cricketers side that plays in the Second Eleven Championship. After his mammoth 170 against the Blues, Renshaw finished his maiden Sheffield Shield campaign as Queensland's leading Shield run scorer with 738 at 43.41 in 2015-16. The burly opener hit 108 and 50 in his first Shield appearance for the 2016-17 summer to vault into national contention. In 2017, Renshaw became the first Australian cricketer to make 500 Test runs before turning 21 years old and currently holds the record for most number of Test runs scored before turning 21 years old for Australia, with 524 runs.
In December 2018, Renshaw scored 345 for Toombul off 273 balls, with 38 fours and 12 sixes, a record for Brisbane senior cricket.
