A top-order batsman and medium pacer from Perth, Marcus Stonis moved to Victoria in 2012 having failed to nail down a place with Western Australia. After struggling to break into Victoria’s side in his first season, Stonis’s move paid dividends in 2013-14 when he scored an impressive 170 against Tasmania in a Sheffield Shield match at the MCG to earn a call-up for Australia A’s winter series in 2014. He scored 58 in a 50-over match against India A in Darwin and took two wickets in two first-class matches against South Africa A in Townsville, underlying his all-round ability. Stoinis hammered 659 runs, including two centuries, in the Sheffield Shield in 2015-16 and also provides a handy option with the ball. He has also secured an IPL spot, representing Kings XI Punjab, and made 120 for Australia A against South Africa A in 2016. Stoinis made his mark on Australia's ODI team with a breath-taking 146-not-out from 117 balls to nearly snatch victory against New Zealand. He has made the move back to Western Australia for the 2017-18 domestic season.
In May 2016, Stoinis achieved his career best T20 figures against the Mumbai Indians for Kings XI, taking 4 from 15.
