Aaron Finch

Aaron Finch

While regular success in first-class cricket has eluded him, Aaron Finch has been a star in limited-overs cricket for Australia, Victoria and Melbourne Renegades. The opener's greatest international performance to date came in 2013 when he smashed 14 sixes on his way to a record-breaking 156 from just 63 balls against England. He was also the unlikely hero playing for the MCC against the Rest of the World in 2014, hitting a match-winning 181 to steal the show from the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Shane Warne. December 2015, Finch became the first player to score 1000 runs in the Big Bash League, where he scored 65 runs off 45 balls in a man of the match performance against the Brisbane Heat in BBL|05. Finch finally made his long awaited Test debut for Australia against Pakistan in October 2018. His baggy green was presented to him by Allan Border and on debut, Finch managed to get 62 and 49 in his first and second innings respectively.

Finch considered throwing away his match-winning innings of 181no in the MCC Bicentenary Match at Lord’s in July 2014 when he’d scored 60 because he felt the crowd would prefer to see other legends of the game batting.
