Mohammad Nabi

Now captain of Afghanistan, Mohammad Nabi first picked up a cricket bat aged 10 while living in a refugee camp in Peshawar. He honed his skills through countless hours of cricket before he began formal training at Arshad Khan’s academy in Peshawar. Opportunities for MCC followed and in April 2009 Nabi played in Afghanistan’s first one-day international, scoring 58. In his 40 ODIs since Nabi has played a major role in Afghanistan’s rise as a cricket nation and in 2010 he was appointed captain. He has scored seven fifties including a high score of 77 against United Arab Emirates in May 2014, while Nabi’s best performance with the ball was 4-31 against Canada in 2011.
