Parthiv Patel joins Mumbai Indians as ‘talent scout’

Parthiv Patel has retired from all forms of cricket a couple of days ago. The 35-year-old veteran has been connected with the gentleman’s game for 18 years. He has represented Indian cricket team in 25 Tests, 39 ODIs and 2 T20Is.

Apart from his exposure in international cricket, he has played domestic and franchise cricket. He played for Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Parthiv made the headlines recently when he highlighted that Rohit Sharma is slightly ahead of Virat Kohli in terms of captaincy.

The former Indian wicket-keeper batsman who played under Rohit and Kohli feels that Rohit has an edge over Kohli as a captain. Rohit Sharma won 5 titles as captain and 6 trophies as a player. On the other hand, Kohli is yet to win a single trophy for RCB.

Parthiv scored 2848 runs in the IPL, registering his best score of 81. He scored 13 fifties to his credit. The left-handed batsman thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India and Sourav Ganguly in his retirement statement.

Parthiv Patel joins MI as talent scout:

The veteran is all set to start second innings in his professional career as he joined Mumbai Indians as a talent scout. The 35-year-old already represented Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Now, he will be looking forward to helping the five-time IPL champions as a talent scout.

The southpaw said he relished playing cricket for Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians. “I had enjoyed my cricket playing for Mumbai Indians, those momentous three years with the champion sides remain etched in my memory. It’s time now to turn a new chapter in my life.

I am excited, confident, and thankful to the Mumbai Indians management for the opportunity presented to me,” the former cricketer said according to Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, MI team owner Akash Ambani was happy that the southpaw has joined as a talent scout. “I am delighted to have Parthiv joining us. We had the opportunity to pick his cricketing brain during his playing days at Mumbai Indians.

I am very confident of his contribution to further enhance our scouting system with the depth of cricketing knowledge he possesses. Parthiv understands our ideology, the DNA of Mumbai Indians, and what we are trying to create at MI,” Akash said.
