Kohli hits a mesmerizing six off Cummins’ bowling

Indian captain Virat Kohli looked in sublime touch with the bat when he came out to play at No.3. Right after Mayank Agarwal was dismissed, the pressure was on Team India. During the second ball of the eighth over, Kohli hit a scintillating six over backward square leg and pacer Pat Cummins didn’t have any idea as to what happened on that ball.

Virat Kohli once again showcased his brilliance but his stay at the crease was shortlived as he was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood for 21 runs off 21 balls. The right-handed batsman could have easily dominated the bowling attack and scored a big knock. But Hazlewood’s bowling brilliance earned him a big wicket.

Kohli’s six off Cummins’ bowling was a treat to the fans

Kohli smashed two fours and a six in his short innings but what really stands out was the fact that he hit a terrific six of Pat Cummins’ bowling. The commentators ran short of words to describe the marvellous shot. The video of Kohli smashing a blazing -hot six spread like wildfire across social media platforms.

While chasing a mammoth target of 375, India managed to go past the 300-run mark but ended up losing important wickets. The visitors lost the game by 66 runs. Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan were the only two batsmen who stood against the Aussie bowling attack. Hardik scored a magnificent 90 off 76 balls including 7 fours and 4 sixes.

Shikhar Dhawan was the second-best batsman for India as he scored 74. He hit as many as 10 fours to his name. Steve Smith was the player of the match as he scored a brilliant 105 off 66 balls. He smashed 11 fours and 4 maximums.

“Got enough time to prepare. Don’t think there can be any excuses. Probably the first long game we’ve played in a while, been playing T20 cricket. Probably that’s something that can have an effect. Body language wasn’t great after around 25 overs. If you don’t take your chances against a top-quality opposition they’ll make you pay.

Unfortunately Hardik is not fit enough to bowl, and we don’t have other allround options to pick from either, someone like Stoinis or Maxwell. From the batting point of view, we had a chat briefly now. All the batsmen committed to it which is why you saw us playing with intent. I think we gave ourselves the best chance.

Hardik’s innings was the best example of that. As a batting unit we committed nicely to positive cricket and we are going to do that in the future as well,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation.
