Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first on a track that is offering more for spinners. India had three changes as Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel came into the side. On the other hand, the visitors had four changes namely Olly Stone, Ben Foakes, Moeen Ali, and Stuart Broad.

India off to a shocking start as Olly Stone trapped Shubman Gill for a duck with an lbw. Following him, Cheteshwar Pujara had an 85 runs partnership with Rohit Sharma. Pujara got dismissed on 21. Up next the skipper Virat Kohli came to the crease.

The Indian skipper was completely outplayed by England right-arm off-spinner Moeen Ali. It was in the 22nd over and Moeen Ali pitched the ball on full length. The ball had a big turn and came into the batsman.

Virat Kohli was completely deceived by the turn and the ball cliffed the stumps. As a result, the Indian skipper got out for a duck. The skipper was unable to believe the dismissal and was struck in the crease for a second. The third umpire referral confirmed the dismissal and ultimately Indian skipper had to walk off.
