The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) begins from September 19, 2020, in the UAE, with the eight franchises taking one another on for the title.
Each of the eight teams in IPL 2020 — Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Rajasthan Royals (RR) — will play two matches against every other IPL team.
MI and CSK were originally scheduled to play the opening game of the 2020 season at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.
However, the pandemic outbreak in India and the subsequent blockade resulted in the tournament postponed indefinitely. The matches occur in three of the most popular locations in the United Arab Emirates – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.
Fifty-six round-robin matches will play at the league stage, and so the highest four teams of IPL 2020 will proceed to the playoffs.
A team gets 2 points to win a match, while the loser has no point. If the game abandoned, both teams get one point each.
If two teams have an equal number of points at the top of the round-robbins stage, their positions on the IPL points table 2020 will decide to support the online Run rate (NRR).
The NRR in any match, the common number of runs a team scores per over, minus the typical number of runs scored against it per above.
