After a short delay due to weather, Afghanistan were put into bat. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who made 22 off 10, made a blistering start before the batting order was reduced to 66/4 in 12 overs.

Irish pacer Craig Young leaked 18 runs in the very first over and then made three quick dismissals.

Skipper Asghar Afghan settled the innings with 82-ball 41. Mohammad Nabi (32) and Gulbadin Naib (36) contributed with thirties.

In-form Paul Stirling scored his second consecutive and third ODI hundred of the year. He also became the man with most ODI tons (12) for Ireland.

Stirling was the lone warrior in the run chase, having made 118 off 119 with 6 sixes and 9 fours. Mujeeb Ur Rehman bowled a fast short delivery that got Stirling inside-edging onto the stumps.

Lack of support from the other end had Ireland packed for 230 in 47.1 overs, leaving themselves with just one win in the UAE tour (1-1 vs UAE before this series).

Rashid won the player of the match award while Stirling deservedly received player of the series award.

Afghanistan (30 points) have moved to No.4 in the Cricket World Cup Super League standings. Bangladesh (No.2) and England (No.3) also have 30 points to their names.

Brief scores:

Afghanistan 266/9 in 50 overs (Rashid 48, Asghar 41; Simi 3/37, Young 3/61)

Ireland 230 allout in 47.1 overs (Stirling 118; Rashid 4/29, Mujeeb 2/43, Naveen 1/45)

Afghanistan won by 36 runs and series 3-0
